The first day of our training programme is over, a lot has been learnt,
it was a productive day. The first day training session was opened by the acting
head of department journalism and mass communication Mr. Leopord Katubayemwo followed
by the introductory remarks which were given by the dean of faculty social
sciences and communication Dr. Anne Gongwe. Thereafter we had the introduction
of our training programme by Mr. Peik Johansson.
The training session was very interesting. As part of the first day
training one of the very important task was to create a blog. Each of the
participants created a blog and publish the first post which based on
introduction of oneself and what was happening in a day. Reference made to my
first post :).
The other interesting part of the training for today was a discussion
about internet use in the world and how it has changed societies. We had time
to pass through the popular sites that are most likely being used when people
make use of internet like alexa.com, theguardian.com, google.com, easyjet.com, Wikipedia.org
etc. depending with the needs of a person. We also had a discussion on the
statistical data about internet users in the world, Asia being the leading continent
with highest number of internet users in the world, China being the leading
country with many internet users in the world and Nigeria being the leading
country in Africa with highest number of internet users. As in case of Africa its
only 30% of the people in the content who have access to internet in 2016,
therefore there is still a long way to go…
